She vets what’s hot on the local scene—from the latest food delivery app to the best calorie-torching workouts—as San Francisco editor for PureWow and regularly contributes to the San Francisco Chronicle, California Home + Design, and Interiors California. Her work has also appeared on Ozy, Time Out, and Visit California, and she worked on the launch of Rodale’s Organic Life website.

Before going freelance, McCarthy was the arts + culture editor at San Francisco city magazine 7x7, where she spent countless hours at museums and never passed on the chance to check out under-the-radar work. The former New Yorker cut her teeth in the marketing side of the business at Travel + Leisure and American Express until realizing that editorial was her true calling.

When she’s not road tripping around California, eating oysters, or hiking somewhere warm, you can find her feverishly typing away on her laptop at a sun-filled cafe in San Francisco.
